Network Operations Manager

We’re looking for an expert Network Operations Manager to be the owner and leader in continuing to ensure Mashery’s network infrastructure is reliable, scalable and secure.

You’ll be responsible for managing the infrastructure that runs our core product, managing service providers and for planning & then executing on our network operations roadmap for the current year and beyond. As a growing SaaS company we’re looking for someone who can grow with us, someone that understands that through providing a stable, secure, and scalable infrastructure (implemented with the highest standards) our customers will continue to trust and value the Mashery partnership.

• Lead and manage our technical operations, infrastructure & resources appropriately (and eventually possibly manage a small team) ensuring goals are met and service levels are delivered on.
• Continuously evaluate infrastructure needs, research and identify technologies designed to improve systems security, scalability and overall reliability.
• Manage capacity planning and execution processes.
• Evaluate and negotiate purchase of hardware, software, or service providers.
• Manage the systems monitoring services, implementing change where necessary, in order to deliver upon service level agreements.
• Manage and continually evaluate technical partners including Amazon Web Services, DNS providers, external monitoring system providers, and managed service providers.
• Participate in all tiers of security operations support.
• Lead our business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
• Work closely with engineering teams and customer support in planning and executing company product development & rollout efforts, ensuring network operations is considered and rollouts are successful.
• Evaluate and recommend new and emerging security products and technologies.
• Identify security issues and risks, mapping out various scenarios & solutions as needed.
• Architect, design, implement, support, and evaluate security-focused tools and services.
• Document operations infrastructure and train others as needed.
• Management of a 24x7 environment ensuring adherence to client SLA commitments. You must be comfortable carrying the pager (well IPhone, Blackberry, whatever), be responsive, and feel like you own it!

• 5+ years experience in a Network Operations or System Administration role with experience supporting a web services offering.
• Strong experience and technical knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate across multiple levels including C-level executives, engineers, professional services, etc.
• Experience in managing co-location facilities or managed service providers.
• Experience in DNS administration & failover support technologies.
• A BIG PLUS if you are familiar with or direct experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), cloud computing, or Splunk.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and web services security a plus.
• Strong scripting experience in shell, Perl or Python.
• Must be extremely comfortable with the installation, configuration and performance tuning of Linux.
• Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols).
• Excellent leadership skills and teamwork skills - people trust and want to work with you.
• Strong analytical skills and demonstrated expertise in managing projects, schedules, and resources.

• BS or MS in CS/related field, or equivalent experience.
